Daysy: How did you meet?
Kyle : My friend from grad school jokingly told me to message Alex (her best friend) on Facebook, just because she finds hooking people up together to be fun. She lived in NC, and I was in MD. She didn’t realize that Alex and I would end up falling head over heels for each other. Online chat turned into phone calls, then that turned to video chats, and we eventually ended up physically meeting.
Alex : We met on my best friend’s birthday weekend in Winchester, VA. We had breakfast together at Bonnie Blue, and we spent the day sight-seeing on Skyline Drive. We laughed and told stories while we listened to our favorite 90’s hits.
Daysy : Where did you go for your 1st date?
Kyle: We first physically met and had our 1st date at Bonnie Blue, a southern style Mom & Pop restaurant in Winchester, VA. Then we went to enjoy the scenery at Skyline Drive. We finished the date at Wendy’s of all places haha.
Alex: Our first time meeting was also our first date! We were already chatting online and on the phone before we met in person for the first time.
Daysy : How did he propose? Can you describe that moment?
Kyle: We had been in a long distance relationship for many years and we already had an agreement that I would propose sometime when she moved to MD to be with members She just didn’t know when. After we moved in together, I took her to a beautiful garden one sunny day in DC to enjoy the views. Next I took her to a fancy restaurant where I told her that I’d take her one day “on a special occasion.” I didn’t propose yet and she was visibly frustrated that I hadn’t popped the question. Little did she know that over the course of many months, I was slowly putting together a video of all the pictures of places we had spent together on dates and making sure to highlight the milestones (i.e. place of first date). The last slides of the video were pictures of all the places we visited earlier that day (as I had gone there beforehand and took pictures of the places), and labeled it as “all the places we visited when I proposed to you.” I got down on one knee and she said yes before I could open the box with the ring.
Alex: Kyle proposed on a day in June when I least expected it. We had an incredible date, enjoying a meal in DC and exploring the gardens at the Hillwood Estate. When I asked if we were celebrating anything, he said, “do I need a reason to spoil you?” I couldn’t argue with that logic. When we got home that evening, he proposed with a video collage of all our special moments together, and I loved it!
Daysy: Are you planning to honeymoon? If yes, where do you have plans to go to?
Kyle : Yes, Aruba.
Alex: There are so many places we would like to explore together. We’ve been together for almost four years, and we’ve never been on a week-long vacation! We are finally going to escape to Aruba together for some extended fun in the sun.
Daysy: How do you imagine yourselves as a couple from now to 5 years?
Kyle: Hopefully have our own home together.
Alex: I would love to have a small house with a little yard for our baby, Shadow.
Daysy: Do you have any pets? If yes what is it’s name and how do you share the duties?
Kyle: Yes, a dog. He’s a lab mix. His government name is Shadow. But he also goes by Professor Shadow, Dr. Shadow, Mr. Shadow, Shadito, and Pup E. Dog. He responds best if you are holding a treat. The duties are Alex and I work long and hard to provide his food and sustenance while he sleeps all day, eats, and “guards” the house.
Alex: Shadow is our pup and designated snuggle expert. Kyle and I both enjoy taking him on walks, giving him special treats, and teaching him new tricks.
Daysy: Describe something that you absolutely love about your fiance?
Kyle: Very caring, really goofy, adorable, and funny. She’s also very hard working, dedicated, ambitious, and a strong woman. But best of all, she makes me feel happy.
Alex: love Kyle’s attitude about life. He reminds me to have fun, and he always gives me a reason to smile. Kyle prioritizes happiness and wellness, something that most folks neglect these days!
